We’re proud to have supported this project as Engineer to Contract, working alongside our client Auckland Council (AUDO), to help deliver this outstanding outcome for the community.
Our role focused on providing robust contract management, technical oversight, and trusted advisory services, working closely with contractor Glasgow to ensure the vision for Wai akatea Rātā Vine Stream Reserve was realised to a high standard. It’s a privilege to contribute our expertise to projects that restore natural environments while creating meaningful, accessible spaces for people.
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to be involved in such a significant regeneration initiative, and we acknowledge the strong collaboration between mana whenua, project partners, and delivery teams that made this possible.
We’re especially looking forward to continuing our involvement in the Puhinui Stream works, with Stage 2 on the horizon, and supporting the next phase of this important programme.
We look forward to continuing to support projects that enhance resilience, connectivity, and community wellbeing across Tāmaki Makaurau.

A fantastic day out at Hayman Park alongside our clients Auckland Urban Development Office - Auckland Council, and Healthy Waters. 🌱
The recent planting day was no small feat, with tough ground, hot conditions, and a big goal ahead. Thanks to an incredible collective effort, nearly 900 plants are now in the ground along the stream and wetland.
Special recognition to HEB, the contractors delivering the works, and to Te Whangai Trust for their wonderful work in raising and planting the vegetation across the project.
What was once just grass is already transforming into something much more meaningful.
Huge credit to everyone involved — your energy, teamwork, and commitment made this happen. It’s inspiring to see collaboration like this bringing real environmental and community impact to life.
The plants are now being well cared for, and we’re excited to watch this space continue to grow 🌿

Last week, we were proud to attend the official opening of Catherine Plaza, a transformative project in the heart of Henderson that strengthens the connection between the main street and WestCity Mall.
Urban Solutions was engaged to provide Project Management and Engineer to Contract services, supporting the delivery of a revitalised public space designed to be safer, more accessible and more inviting for the community.
The upgrade included new concrete and wetpour surfaces, a raised timber boardwalk, integrated custom seating, play elements, catenary lighting and native planting. Infrastructure improvements were also delivered, including renewed stormwater and wastewater assets, a new watermain and two rain gardens for stormwater treatment. Every element was carefully considered to balance functionality, resilience and placemaking outcomes, ensuring the space not only performs technically but also enhances the everyday urban experience.
Delivered in collaboration with Auckland Urban Development Office, mana whenua, the Local Board and key stakeholders, Catherine Plaza is a strong example of what can be achieved through partnership and a shared commitment to community-focused design.
